Accessibility Statement
What this site does to stay usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, a small viewport or high zoom, together with the limitations we know about.
Our approach
This site aims to meet the WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria. Accessibility is treated as part of the build rather than an add-on: the layout is plain HTML, the colour system carries contrast ratios designed for body text at long reading lengths, and every interactive control is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone.
What is in place
- Semantic landmarks and headings, so screen readers can jump between navigation, main content and footer.
- A visible skip link to the main content as the first focusable element on every page.
- Visible focus outlines on all links, buttons, form fields and the navigation menu, at every zoom level.
- A responsive layout that reflows to a single column on narrow viewports and at 200 percent browser zoom.
- Menus and disclosures built as native HTML elements, so they work without JavaScript.
- Emoji and decorative graphics marked as decorative where they carry no information.
- Text alternatives on informative images, and empty alternatives on purely decorative ones.
Known limitations
- Some data tables are wide. They scroll horizontally on small screens rather than collapsing into cards, which can be awkward with a screen reader on a phone.
- The step-by-step instructions describe actions on Android, Android TV and Windows settings screens that are themselves outside our control and vary between device manufacturers.
- Third-party services referenced by name, such as emulators and the Downloader app, have their own accessibility behaviour that we cannot assess or change.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site blocks you, report it through the contact page and describe the page, the assistive technology you were using and what happened. Accessibility reports are treated like corrections: they are logged and answered.
