What this site collects, why, how long it keeps it, and what you can do about it. Written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

This is a read-only publication. There are no accounts, no login, no comments and no user-submitted content. You can read every page without giving us your name, your email address or any other personal detail, and we do not sell personal data.

What is collected automatically

Like every website, this one receives technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the referring page where one exists, your user-agent string, and the date and time. This is recorded in server logs for security, abuse prevention and reliability, and legal basis for it is our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and safe.

How long logs are kept

Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted, unless a specific log entry is needed for longer to investigate an attack or a legal claim. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be kept indefinitely because they no longer relate to a person.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no advertising or profiling cookies of its own. The cookie policy lists every cookie category that can be set, which of them are active today, and how to block them in your browser. Nothing on this site requires a cookie to work: pages are served identically to readers who block all of them.

Third-party requests

Rendering a page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That request transmits your IP address and user-agent to Google, which is a third-party transfer we do not control and for which we act as the data controller. It is the only third-party request made by default, and it can be blocked with an extension such as a font or tracker blocker without affecting readability.

If analytics or advertising is enabled in the future, this page and the cookie policy will be updated with the provider, the categories of data involved and any consent mechanism before the service goes live.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data here, contact us and it will be deleted.

Your rights

Access: ask what personal data we hold about you, if any.
Rectification: ask us to correct data that is wrong.
Erasure: ask us to delete data we hold about you.
Restriction and objection: ask us to stop or limit a particular use.
Portability: receive data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format.
Complaint: complain to your national data protection authority.

Because this site collects so little, most requests resolve to the same answer: the only personal data likely to exist is a server log entry with your IP address, and it is deleted within 30 days regardless. Rights requests can be sent through the contact page and are answered within 30 days.

When you follow a link from this site to a third-party download page, this site's role ends at the click. The destination site, and the file you obtain there, are governed by that site's own policies. This site hosts no installation files and cannot delete, verify or withdraw one held anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

Material changes are recorded in the last-updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
