Why passthrough causes silence
With passthrough enabled, the player sends the audio stream untouched to whatever is connected, expecting that device to decode it. If the television, soundbar or receiver does not support the format, nothing decodes it and the result is silence. The picture is unaffected because video is decoded by the player either way.

How to restore sound

A stereo track uses a format almost every output can decode, which isolates a surround-format problem.
3.Check the output device
A television, soundbar or receiver that cannot decode the format will stay silent no matter what the app does.
4.Test a second channel
A second channel with sound proves the first channel's audio format is the variable.
